Well i also have thick hair but i have a perm now so my hair is pretty straight but since my hair is thick i have to use a flat iron. You should get a perm if u do decide to u might still need to use a flat iron to make it straight, Don't use a flat iron everyday it will break off your hair. Try to put it in a wrap after you flat iron it and then put a scarf on it.

.first wash your hair
.blow dry it
.get your straitening iron then let it sit for about 15 min so it could get really hot
.start in the front of your head
.then get a little amount of your hair at a time and when you are at the scalp keep the straitening iron there for about 15 sec at the end of the peice of your hair do the same thing. and just keep on doing that. our you can just get a perm. and make sure that a black person does your perm if you get one because they did it for a long time and they have more experiance. good luck
