How to deal with wavy/curly hair...help!?

My hair has a heavy wave that gets pretty curly (even to the point of corkscrews) if I treat it right. I have to wash it with NO conditioner (conditioner straightens it out) then let it drip dry. No rubbing with a towel, no hair dryer.

I've been using a wide toothed comb, then a little spray on "scrunching spray." The problem is that it gets frizzy. I'm having trouble finding a balance...if I get rid of the frizz, the curl goes away.

Does anyone who deals with curly hair have some tips? How can I make it curly but not frizzy without smoothing it out entirely?

DO NOT put an elastic. will put huge crease! leave it until next day: then apply some biosilk bottoms up. trust me! curly frizz/flyaway free hair!!!!!!

personally my self i perfer straight hair but i dont have that so here is my advice for keeping it curly use rollers not big ones small rollers u can find at sallys and when u wash your hair use a hair dryer like salons use but make sure u use the small rollers but if u want not a lot of curls but you want them to be big then HUGE is the way to go.

My hair is naturally curly. I have to use shampoo and conditioner then towel dry it and put mousse in it. Once it air dries a little, I put hairspray on it when it's still a little wet and scrunch it up. Doing it that way lets me have frizz free hair!

im a hair dresser, and u need a conditioner, curly hair is naturialy mort dry and course in texture than any other type of hair. try matrix curllife products, they r lite shampoo conditioner and creams to apply throughout the day. or try, new (cheaper) sunsilk, shampoo for frizzy curly hair, along with the 24/7 creme. the stuff works, and dont scrunch with just your hands xcrunch with a towel, that way u take the moistiure out at the same time, gets the hair to curl up easier, good luck

first of all - card players don't care how your hair looks - so you can deal anyway you'd like

second - take a trip to a drug store, supermarket or a Walmart type store - go to the aisle with hair products and start reading labels. Look for "no frizz" on the labels. It will be a trial %26amp; error process -

third - you can ask your hairdresser for advice.

fourth - look up pantene on any search engine on the web - its probably www.pantene.com -

don't skimp on the conditioner - it's important. get one that is made for curly hair and it will be ok.

I can make my hair get curlier if I use some kind of scrunch spray, then blow dry it. I hold a handful of hair scrunched up at the scalp and blow dry on high heat but low-blow. hit it with hot air, then when your hair is hot remove the blow but hold your hair scrunched until it cools off. keep doing that and you can have curls that are conditioned.

Here is my suggestion - throw away your shampoo. I have curly hair and haven't shampooed my hair in over a year. My hair looks great now. The cleansers in it were stripping away the natural oils which helped my hair maintain it's frizz itself. Instead, I use conditioners and put some on my fingers and rub on my scalp to loosen any surface buildup. After much testing, I've found that the thickest richest conditioner is made by Head and Shoulders, and it works great.

The silicone products suggested by other answerers can build up without shampoos though, so if you plan to use them, you will still need a shampoo. I find that a nice plain gel - yes, the cheapie stuff - will work just fine and not have any buildup issues. When your hair is drying, put the top layer up a bit in duckbilled clips, and DO NOT TOUCH IT! Let it airdry and take out the clips - it should stay nice for a good majority of the day.

Naturallycurly.com is a site with people who all have curly hair. Loads of good info there. Also, there is a book called Curly Girl who suggests the above routine that I follow. You may have good luck with tips from there. I've included it in my sources below...

Good luck.
