Curly hair.......... need help STAT!?

Heyy, I have really thick %26amp; curly hair that gets huge. The number one thing NOT to do is to use a bunch of gels and hairsprays every day. If you do, i would advise you to wash your hair once a week with Purell or Dawn dish detergent!. It will take out all of the stuff in your hair except dyed hair color! This will leave you hair feeling natural and will not get huge either. Also, changing your daily shampoo can help. I prefer anti-friz serums or Sunsilk hair lotions preferabily for frizzy or curly hair to apply after you shower. If you're like me %26amp; need some gel or hair spray in your hair, just remember that a little goes a long way! I hope I helped!

You can get Garnier Fructis Waxing Gel at any Wal-mart Target, ect... and all you do is put some on your fingers and then rub it all over your hands and smooth out your hair. After you do that dry it then if you want you could useyour straightener and straighten it!

Hope that helps!!!

i used to have the same problem when i had curly hair. i usually put mouse in it and scrunched it, but if you dont like doing that i would say straighten it. or use shine spray, and scrunch it. dont ever brush it when its dry though.

Even though you hair is dry, you must make it dryer to kill the curls. Use a straightening iron. However, you can use several different kinds of shampoos and conditioners with moisturizing an d hydrating formulas to give your hair its vitamins and minerals it needs to stay healthy. I use Biolage shampoo. Since I swim and straighten my hair, my hair is so dry, but Biolage helps maintain the level of hydration even. I hope I helped you!

If your curly hair is frizzy and unmanagable you should try ethnic haircare products (regardless of your race). You should especially look into hot oil treatments.

Check the ingredients on your shampoo. Many shampoos use harsh chemicals that serve no purpose other than making suds (which don't make your hair any cleaner), and the expensive shampoos that make extraordinary claims often have the same active ingredients as cheap brands. Avoid products containing sodium lauryl sulfate and ammonium laureth sulfate. Try using gentler shampoos, like an organic shampoo or a baby shampoo.

There are several types of ingredient you should look for in a conditioner. One type are emollients, like shea butter, olive oil, walnut oil, and wheat germ, which reduce frizz. Proteins, like wheat, wheat germ, or soy protein will coat the hair shaft and protect it. Humectants, like panthenol, vegetable glycerine, and sorbitol will absorb water and hold in moisture. Amino acids and aloe vera are also great moisturizers.

Look for the book "Curly Girl" at your local library. The entire book is specifically about caring for curly hair, and it's pretty enlightening.

I have curly hair also and found that Suave has a creme for the frizzy days and a straightening creme for the days that you want to go straight. It won't dry out hair when using the blow dryer or straightening iron either. That way it is both economical and useful.

I have really curly hair too and you would never know that if you first looked at me! What I do is, in the shower I use sunsilk anti poof shampoo and anti frizz conditioner. Then I blowdry my hair with a big round brush. Then finally when it is dry, I straigten it with a straigtener! It takes about one hour for me to do it but it might take you longer since this would be your first time!

straighten it or moose it. Try japanesse perm cuz my friend has it and its the best! Gel it or hairspray maybe. If you still need help try straightening shampoo! it works like a straightener but dosent dry out your hair, they have it available in conditioner too.

John Frieda's Frizz Ease products.

I swear by:

"Refresh" conditioner. Amazing!

"Downplay" and "Extra Strength Serum" will cut the "hugeness". Follow the directions.

"Secret Weapon". I never leave home without it. If you try nothing else, get this. You put in on dry hair and it tames frizzys and your hair is soft and shiney!

Get it at Target, it's not super expensive either!

You probably have a couple different things going on here.

For one, your hair is getting "huge," which may be because your hair is getting too much volume. A hairdresser can help minimize this, either with lots of layers, or with thinning shears, or using a weaving technique with the scissors to reduce some of the bulk.

The second issue is dryness, and I suspect some frizz. Start out with some good conditioning products. You can go expensive, something like Kerastase Masqueintense. Works wonders on dry hair (a little goes a long way). Or you can go with something more reasonable, like Redken, which has a whole line of products for curly hair, as well as products for dry hair. Ringlet is something that can help soothe the frizz. Also, some products like Bedhead, which may be designed for straightening hair, can be used to help reduce frizz too - just don't pull the hair straight when syling it and allow it to curl. There are a lot of products available, at all kinds of price levels. But you might need to experiement around a bit to find the ones that work best for you. Go with the best you can afford. Generic products won't give you the results the salon products can.

Instead of using a blow dryer, and blasting your hair, try a diffuser. Many hairdryers come with one. It can help your hair curl, but it can also help reduce frizz. Lower the heat setting a bit on your dryer. It doesn't have to be full heat. Try the warm setting instead. And don't use a hairdryer, or a curling iron, unless you've used conditioner on your hair - this protects it. Curling irons can help give you some control over the curl, and soften some of the fuzzy frizz.

You don't need to straighten your hair to have it look good. In fact, most people with naturally curly hair look better with curls. You just need to learn how to better care for your hair, and to have it cut properly.

Talk to a good hairdresser. If you have had bad results with the one you currently use, try elsewhere. When you call for an appointment, tell them you have very curly hair and ask them to set you up with a sylist who is familiar with curly hair (or even better yet, one who HAS very curly hair). Not all stylist cut curly hair well. And ask for advice on how to better care for your hair.

I hope this helps.
