Why is my hair less curly?

I used to have very curly hair, but it has become a lot less curly--almost wavy-- this year. I straighten it ocassionally, but not everyday. I'm also 17 years old if that helps...I'm so confused! It is noticeably less curly. Any ideas?

I think you hair may have been weighed down by hair glossifying products. All that stuff does take a toll on your hair, also heat can damage the cuticle of your hair. Hmm, I would say try washing your hair with a Clarifying shampoo, which washes away regular build-up from other shampoos and conditioners leaving your hair shiny. I would recommend Neutrogena's Clarifying Shampoo. I think its good stuff. Also, my one of my friends has really curly hair (she's Latina) and what she did is got her hair trimmed. She had allot of split ends, and that helped her to have more of a defined curl again. She also used Frizz-Ease, it really defines the curl, and follow up with a good hair mousse, like Pantene Pro-V... try not to put too much hair mousse in...it gets to be too sticky and heavy. Probablly cuz you've gottin older thats what happened to me exept mine used to not be able to stay curled but now it will.To help it try scrunching your hair in the morning it really works!!!!
