Getting a haircut for thick curly hair, any advice?

-Im a teen with a long-ish (below the shoulder) THICK, curly hair with layers

-I have a pretty round face, with a big (blech) forehead.

-I am very afraid of bangs, because my face has a tendency to get oily and breakout sometimes, but how else am i supposed make my forehead seem smaller?

-Pictures and advice on how my hairstylist can cut my THICK, curly hair so it's pretty and easy to manage (i don't have time to straighten my hair daily) would help a LOT! Nothing super short or over the top please.

I think that pic of hair is really cute and stylish. If your hair will do that you should go for it. I have really thick curly hair also, i just recently got mine cut and layered (with long layers) so that the longest layer touches right above my shoulders. I also had my bangs cut so that I can curl them over to the side..because I too have a blech forhead. This haircut is really easy to manage. Just some mouse after the shower every morning and scrunch it a little and it looks good all day. I also straighten but feel your pain in the time it takes to straighten thick curly hair...ask your stylist if the style you choose will be easily managed. Good luck!

It could but go to seventeen.com and take there virtual make overs to see what u would like. Also take into consideration the style you normally wear your hair, obviously you wouldn't want a super short hair cut if you mainly just put it up in a pony tail.

Try and see if there is a certified Ouidad stylist in your area. https://www.ouidad.com . They have this method called carving and slicing that works really great on curly hair. I have extremely thick and curly hair, too... and I have found that this method helps to cut each individual curl and not make your head look like a pyramid! Good luck!

I know what it's like to fight with hair. I am 43 and when I was your age I tried like heck to make it look like a picture. What I've learned is that it never looks like the picture. Now when I go to a hairdresser I ask them to be creative and give them general guidelines on length. I just think that since they have the experience with so many different hair types, they know what your hair will do. Become friends with PRODUCT...tame those curls so they are sexy and cute!

I have thick curly hair too, so I know what it's like. Def. get layers cut. It's easier to manage and thins it out. Also, I think there is some certain, special way to cut hair to make it thinner. Ask your stylist about this. Don't make it too short, either.

And also ask your stylist about what she would recommend for simple, quick products to put on. Products like leave in conditioner are quick and easy to use in the mornings, and they make your hair much more manageable.

And yeah, I think that style would work.

IF YOUR REALLY NOT WANTING TO HAVE SHORT HAIR THE BEST THING TO DO WOULD TO PUT YOUR HAIR IN LAYERS, THIS WAY THE LAYERS WITH FIT AROUND YOUR FACE----- PART YOUR HAIR TO THE SIDE SO ITS COVERING YOUR FOREHEAD....(WONT CAUSE YOUR FACE TO BREAKOUT LIKE BANGS) AND WEAR IT LIKE THAT. I HAVE LONG CURLY HAIR AS WELL AND THIS WHAT I HAVE DONE I HAVE AN OVAL HEAD SO TO MAKE MY HEAD LOOK SMALLER IN LENGHT I PART IN TO THE SIDE. JUST AN IDEA...BUT WHAT EVER HAPPENS OWN IT AND MAKE IT FIERCE!
