I know when a girl with straight hair gets a permanent, her hair gets curly, but I don't know what happens when a girl with curly hair gets a permanent.

HER HAIRS GETS STRAIGHT IF SHE USES A PERM. ITS THE REVERSE EFFECT. And most people I know just curl their hair or crimp their hair if its straight and they want it curly.

but when a girl gets a PERM in her hair and has curly hair to begin with it can either get curlier or it can help straighten it out

lol! The same thing. I have naturally curly hair, but my hair is so long that it pulls all the curl down to the bottom half of it. I get a perm every 2-3 years so that the top has some curl.

Wow, people still call em permanents, huh? Depends what kind of perm their getting. There are different kinds. If someone w/ super curly hair gets a wavy perm (large rollers), it will soften her curls. If a girl w/ super curly hair gets a tight perm, i would say it ends up a mess.
