Help ME With My Curly Hair Please!!?

I have about shoulder length curly brown hair (not super duper curly, but its just over wavy) and I hate it!!

I never know what to do with it and it never does what I want it to do when I want it to do it. Any hair style suggestions? Or updos? And when I straighten it with a flat iron it just curls right back up (in this really ugly way that makes me look like an oompa loompa from the old Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory), is there another way?? Help! Please!! =]

You can make it go super curly with products and keeping the dryers off of it, but if you want classic controlable wavy hair like the classic 40's beauties like Laren Bacall, use super large rollers, whether the old school, hot rollers, or hair brush. Figure out which way your hair wants to go and don't fight it. If it wants to part on the right, let it part on the right. The more you fight it, the worse it gets. The super large rollers will add control.

If you want to get away from your curls, try going to a salon and getting a permanent chemical straighter. Chi is a good brand. They are high though and can run to around 200$, but it is worth it. I have had one and it lasted a very long time. Also, have you tried using a regular chi flat iron, or drying your hair straight?

There is a Shampoo and a Conditioner by Pantene you can use it leaves your hair straight, I can't remember the name of hand, but you will find it with all the other Pantene Products. Walmart has it.

Did you try using products for curl enhancing?? Like shampoo and conditioner and curl styling products afterwards. They usually condition the hair to keep the shape of the curl and enhance it. Try using frizz-ease I heard it is good.

About styling ideas... I think half up and half down will look nice, since you;ll be able to control the upper part of your hair which is usually uncontrolable.

I have the same problem. I could straighten my hair with a blow-torch and would curl up again within two minutes. I stopped fighting it and went to a really good stylist who gave me a great cut that actually works WITH my curls so I don't have to fight against them. There are a lot of really cute curly styles out there right now and with a good cut, taking care of your curls is a piece of cake!

I had my hair chemically straightened for about 30 bucks and it lasted for about 6 months. It worked really well even though I had to "patch it up" with a flat iron it didn't take as long as I expected it to. It's definetly worth it.

I had really curly hair and got that japanese hair straighening process done down in brooklyn i had it done in february and its still straigh my roots are getting a little wavy though... it didnt damage my hair and i have dyed my hair a million times. If u live in new york the place is called hair village or something like that... its cheap too! not 3000 dollars like these other places.... it was only $200
