Question about African American curly hair?

I am black and I have naturally curly hair. I relax it because most of the time I like to wear it straight. But sometimes I also like to wear it curly. The problem is the relaxer has obviously taken some of the curl out. I was wondering if anyone knew of any products that I could use to bring more curl out while still relaxing my hair.

I am black also and I find that relaxers do way more harm than good. You should try and stop relaxing your hair asap. It sounds as if your hair is very manageable. A hot comb is all you need to get your hair straight when needed and it's not as pricey as a relaxer with much less damage to the hair. (Ask any beautician)

As far as bringing the curl back out, you can check out the site below. Since it's a site with mainly sisters wearing their natural hair or ones transitioning to, you can find a lot of info from different girls and products for curly hair too. I hope this helps.

Good luck with your search.

Try Wave Noveau...it lets you straighten your hair and keep the curl.

Wet and wavy is good, activator (the spray people who have "curls" use) or even mousse. My younger sister uses it because she's also lost some of the natural curl in her hair.

I recommend that you stop relaxing your hair and start going to the Dominicans in your area to straighten your hair. You are doing more harm than good by relaxing your hair. That way you will still have the option to wear your hair curly or straight.
