Sounds like you may want to try Mixed Chicks Products. They have a small hair product line for "in-between" hair. If you use the leave-in on clean wet hair and air dry, your curls should come out nice. It's a lot less work than straightening. They are at www.mixedchicks.net.

BTW - If you love straigtening your hair, shampoo and deep condition with Mixed Chicks and then start your routine.

Its a shampoo and conditioner by BED HEAD called CONTROL FREAK SERIOUSLY STRAIGHT.

FOLLOWED BY THE SERUM BY BED HEAD IN A GREEN BOTTLE AND YOU CAN BY THE SPRAY OR THE GEL LIKE SERUM..DISTRIBUTE THROUGHOUT DAMP HAIR AND PROCEED TO BLOW DRY HAIR.

YOUR HAIR WILL BE SUPER STRAIGHT WITHOUT WAVES OR FRIZZ

GOOD LUCK =)

I think you should put a straightening serum in your hair after it is washed. You should then dry it using a blowdryer and a round brush. Or you could invest in a wet/dry straightener. After you are done blow drying you should also run the straightener through it. Then spray your hair with some anti frizz spray.

Curly hair is sexy...DON'T straighten it. Bone straight hair is so BORING! It makes you look like a hippie.

I also relaxed my hair for a long time, and then I decided I didn't want to do it again, becuase it increases the ugly frizzes, and my hair was niether straight nor curly.

My real advice to you would be, grow out your hair properly, and then cut off the bits that were staightnened. Then get a good mousse or a Curl Defining Creme, and use that. Work with the curls, not against them, its looks better and you'll see it will start looking shiny and breakage free!!

REMEMBER!

If you heat-straighten your hair regularly, the curls start to lose their shape and it becomes hard to get them to curl nicely again. It become mungled frizz. But while your waiting for the hair to grow out...

Wash your hair no more then once every three days. Curly hair is FRIZZY AND DRY! its just the way it is unfortunately.

Then, WHILE YOUR HAIR IS DAMP! divide your hair into SECTIONS, and take STYLING or HOLD MOUSSE, and put it in the section your about to blowdry. DONT put it on all your hair at once, becuase it becomes hard, and therefore hard to blowdry.

Then take a LARGE ROUND brush, and a BLOWDRYER or HAIRDRYER with a NOZZLE, so that all the heat and air can be concentrated on one place, and blowdry your hair section at a time. THE CURLIER THE HAIR, THE SMALLER THE SECTIONS!!! Keep turning the brush (this sometimes can be tricky! ;) ) to make sure your hair is SUPER sleek. You'll spend about a minute or 2 on each section, so don't try do this in a hurry. Do it the night before.

Then, afterward, put a smoothing serum, or a SILICONE serum in your hair, to give it that shine that curly hair sometimes lacks. DONT PUT TO MUCH, because it can look oily, and concentrate it on the ends, becuase split ends come from heat styling!
