Perming Naturally Curly Hair?

so i have naturally curly, mixed hair and i want something to make my curls more defined. it's frizzy right now and as it gets longer, the curl starts to go away. i straighten it about once a week right now because it looks stupid without it. will a perm make my hair less frizzy and the curls more defined? are there different types of perms? help!

Perming Naturally Curly Hair?

Consult your hairdresser for specific ideas to suit your face but perming is a good idea to control your hair. My sister-in-law has very frizzy curly hair naturally but perms it to keep her curls looking more controlled. It works really well for her so know that this is an excellent option.

try a strait perm. it sounds like it will help alot. strait perms hardly ever look frizzy and you dont have to worry about doing anything with it and u dont have to keep on destroying it w/ a straitner.

If you straighten your hair with a permanent hair straightener it will look good until you get new growth. then it will start to look kind of funky. there are some pretty good products on the market that are good for defining curls. I have tried Redken Ringlets, which is pretty good and Catwalk's Curls Rock. They are better for your hair than perms all the time. If you insist on using a straightener just use the straightener long enough to take some of the curl out in the spots it is the curliest. That way when you have new growth it will match the rest of your hair better and you won't have to use a straightener so often.

I agree with Kriis, you should definitely consult a professional when it comes to matters of the hair, esp. with perms. They could probably provide you with an answer that doesn't even involve using a perm, they may suggest curling rods that give nice curls or something like that. But hair varies from person to person and you never know how something one person does will effect you.
