Help with curly hair?

I have VERY curly hair that I want to straighten, but I want to do it myself. Do you think putting gel in my hair before I straighten it will help it keep straight, and is there any product i can use that will make it easier to straighten? thanks.

Well, they say putting gel in your hair is helpful, but seriously, I don't know. I've never tried, for fear of "frying" the gel. But you shouldn't need to use a straightener. You should use straightening shampoos such as the Herbal Essences straightening kind or something like that. It really works!

There's this shampoo by John Freida that is supposed to help straighten your hair.

Are you permanently straightening it or using a flat iron? I'm guessing you mean a flat iron, and in that case, gel sounds like a bad idea. Look around for products that say they prepare your hair to be straightened. (Use them when you shower or whatever the directions are) I use Miracle Mist on my hair right before I straighten it so it doesn't get as damaged. Find a straightener that gets really hot (invest in a good one) and that will help make it easier.

I started using a "flat iron" and it has straigtenend it

pretty good; just be sure you put on protective

OMG.. dont put gel.. that;'s bad for your hair..

Listen personally if you want your hair to be naturally curly and light.. use mouse or curling CREAM.. get rid of gel.. it causes flakes and makes ur hair unnatural..

second if you want to straighten it.. you need a good conditioner after you shower..that can make it more soft..and less curly.. once you;re out of the shower.. comb your hair..and buy a cream that straightens.. at your nearest drug store..then start blow drying with a bigg square comb.. while you blow dry..it helps straighten it a bit a gives u volume..and do this while you flip your hair..so like upside down.. then when your hair is slightly dry and a little bit wet..use the round comb..and clips to start straightening.. or a flat iron.....but i prefer a blowdryer with clips..cause more volume..more natural..and no waves in hair caused from a flat iron at the top...

Goodluck

after you wash your hair put studio HOT straight on it (while it is wet) then blow dry your hair then strighten it in small layers/sections (do not straighten your hair while it is wet your hair wil singe!!) also you can get your hair permanently straightend for about 鎷?5 it lasts about 3months and if you keep straightening it in that time it will be a lot easier to straighten in the future (GHD are the best rated straighteners)

DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT use gel, i ahve naturally curly hair and i am a hairdresser and u have to use a ceramic flat iron, the fatter the iron, the easier it is to burn urself. it works all day long!!!
