Did I permanently damage my curly hair by using a straight iron?

I recently bought a ceramic flat iron and probably have used it 4 times. I got great results, but after doing it back to back in two days, my hair is noticably less curly, especially the front sections of my hair. It is not frizzy and actually feels more soft, but I miss my ringlet curly hair. I can also still smell a burned smell when I wash my hair. Will it ever go back or will have to wait till it all grows out? Any suggestions? It has only been 3 days since I last straightened it.

I was doing the same thing and I had lost my curls as well. I switched shampoo to Pureology Hydrate and started using Redken curl boost gel. I scunched the gel in and let it air dry for about 30 minutes, then I use the diffuser. My curls popped right back out!

No you won't damage it. This was very popular in the 60's. We all turned out okay.

i have curly hair too. i used that straight iron a few years regularly and my hair was broken. i think the hight temperature damages the hair. i think, try not to use it every week at least.

first of all have u washed it already ? if not then it will be back to normal after that. if u have then there is a mousse u get for curly hair just use that until ur hair recuperates from the starighning. next time dont use it too often wait atleast a week to use it. ceremic iron have a lot of heat and too much heat can damage ur hair. so be careful how often u use it and always use some kind of hair moisterizer b4 u iron it straight prevents damage

There's a good chance that you just left it on your hair for too long. Did you use it when your hair was wet? That makes your hair more susceptible to damage. Lay off of the flat iron for a few days and use a deep conditioning treatment. Your hair will probably be back to normal in a few days, but if it isn't, try getting a trim to put some bounce back into your locks. Hope that helps!

My suggestion is to go to Wal-Mart and buy Herbal Essences Hydration Formula SHAMPOO and wild curl something CONDITIONER. I haven't used the curls conditioner, but's it pretty new and they come in wild colored bottles and the conditioner will sit upside down and be a little wavy in the middle part. The hydration formula is in a pretty sky neon blue bottle. The reason why you probably smell burnt hair is because you had it on a higher setting then what it should of been for your hair type. But don't worry, because your hair that is not on the tip of your scalp is dead anyway, thats why it doesn't hurt when you cut your hair off.

you might have to wait until it grows out but for now you should deep condition your hair once a week, Pantene pro-v works great. If you really want your curly hair back then use Pantene's curly hair products, the labels are pink. They have a shampoo, conditioner, and styling products that don't damage your hair and make it softer.
